Besides being a fine artist and creating fiber sculptures, I also wove horse blankets commissioned for special events, shows, and parades. However, Bob Henry and his Tennessee Walker “Shadow” wanted to look good all the time in their saddle blanket. The photo above shows the beautiful wearability after the two had ridden a series of cross-country rides totaling over 100 miles.
The weft of the blankets is Swedish Berga Rya, a high-quality colorfast and durable sheep yarn. It takes almost a month to complete each piece, from the design phase to the finish.
